Girls

Year 7
They will study hockey, netball, gymnastics, tennis, outdoor education, athletics, striking games and health and wellbeing.

Year 8 and 9
The programme includes hockey, netball, gymnastics, dance, tennis, outdoor education, athletics, striking games and health and wellbeing.

Year 10 and 11
There is more flexibility to choose their activities in these year groups. They can follow football, hockey, netball, badminton, weights, circuits, athletics and striking games.
A PSHE programme is also included in their lessons.

Boys

Year 7
The boys look at rugby, gymnastics, football, outdoor education, short tennis, athletics, striking games and health and wellbeing.

Year 8 and 9
In both these year groups they take part in basketball, rugby, gymnastics, football, outdoor education, short tennis, athletics, striking games and health and wellbeing.

Year 10 and 11
There is more flexibility in these year groups where the pupils have a say in the programme of study. The activities include basketball, badminton, weights, hockey, football, rugby, athletics, striking games and health and wellbeing. A PSHE programme is also included in their lessons.

GCSE

The course is varied and includes health and fitness, how the body works, social issues within sport and the community and skill elements of performance. The course is 60% practical where the pupils need to choose four different activities in which they are assessed.

BTEC

Level 2 certificate in sport advanced.
The BTEC course includes the structure of sport, how the body works, what is fitness and how to measure fitness? They design training programmes and take part in two practical activities. There is no exam at the end but they are continually assessed throughout the course.

AS and A2

The A level course is varied and challenging. AS modules include anatomy and physiology, skill and contemporary issues within sport. There is also an oral exam and a practical element of two chosen activities to be assessed. The A2 modules are exercise physiology, psychology and comparative issues. The pupils perform another talk and are assessed in one sport of their choice.
