Hello and a warm welcome to Ysgol Penglais School! We understand that the move from primary to secondary school can bring a variety of changes and challenges for all children. This section of the website aims to explain the process at Ysgol Penglais School and to answer some of your queries. We hope you find it useful.

The period of transition can be quite daunting for students (and parents/guardians) and we aim to provide support and guidance to Year 6 and Year 7 students in order to make their transition and integration as easy as possible.

We are a very happy and successful school. Our students are challenged and motivated to achieve their full potential in a caring, supportive and inclusive environment.
<p>
In Year 7 there are usually 6 form groups and teaching groups. Students register with their form tutor every day in their tutor group. Wherever possible their form tutor will stay with the tutor group for their first five years at Ysgol Penglais School. They will build a relationship with their group and will be on hand to help, support and advise as students develop during their time with us.
<p>
Teaching groups are mixed ability, though students are set in Maths and Welsh/Cymraeg. Design and Technology groups are also different as the groups are slightly smaller as workshop space allows.

n Thursday October 10th 2024 from 6pm to 8pm we will be holding our Open Evening giving you the opportunity to see what we do and to visit all departments and speak to staff. This is always a lively and enjoyable evening. There is an opportunity to hear from the Headteacher and to ask questions.

Ymweliadau ag Ysgolion Cynradd a Dyddiau Sefydlu 2024

In the summer term the Pastoral team will usually visit all primary schools in order to speak to students and introduce the school. We hope to start these visits after the summer half term break.
Helo a chroeso cynnes i Ysgol Penglais! Gwyddom y gall symud o’r ysgol gynradd i’r ysgol uwchradd beri amrywiaeth o newidiadau a heriau i bob plentyn. Bwriad yr adran hon o’r wefan yw egluro’r broses yma yn Ysgol Penglais ac ateb rhai o’ch ymholiadau. Gobeithio y bydd o ddefnydd i chi.
Gall y cyfnod pontio fod yn eithaf brawychus i fyfyrwyr (a rhieni/gwarcheidwaid) a’n nod yw cynnig cymorth ac arweiniad i fyfyrwyr Blwyddyn 6 a Blwyddyn 7 er mwyn gwneud eu pontio a’u hintegreiddio mor hawdd â phosibl.
Rydym yn ysgol hapus a llwyddiannus iawn. Mae ein myfyrwyr yn cael eu herio a’u hysgogi i gyflawni eu llawn botensial mewn amgylchedd gofalgar, cefnogol a chynhwysol.
Fel arfer ym Mlwyddyn 7 mae 6 dosbarth cofrestru a 6 grwp addysgu. Mae myfyrwyr yn cofrestru gyda’u tiwtor dosbarth bob dydd yn eu grŵp tiwtor. Lle bynnag y bo modd bydd eu tiwtor dosbarth yn aros gyda’r grŵp tiwtor am eu pum mlynedd gyntaf yn Ysgol Penglais. Byddant yn meithrin perthynas â’u grŵp a byddant wrth law i helpu, cefnogi a chynghori wrth i fyfyrwyr ddatblygu yn ystod eu hamser gyda ni.
Gallu cymysg yw’r grwpiau addysgu, arwahan i Fathemateg a Chymraeg ble mae myfyrwyr yn cael eu gosod mewn setiau. Mae grwpiau Dylunio a Thechnoleg hefyd yn wahanol gan fod y grwpiau ychydig yn llai i ganiatáu digon o ofod yn y gweithdy.
