I am late arriving to school

Sign in with the Attendance Officer with a note from your parent/guardian.

I have a dental or medical appointment during lesson time

Let your subject teacher know and then sign out with the Attendance Officer (students must bring a note from home to explain the absence).

I don’t feel well during a lesson

Tell your subject teacher if in you are in a lesson and  go to the Attendance officer

I am absent from school?

When you return bring a letter from home to explain your absence and give it to your Form Tutor or Attendance Officer.

I am being bullied or I know someone who is?

Tell someone – your Form Tutor, a teacher or Student Services – do not keep it to yourself.

I have lost something?

Ask at Reception to see if it has been handed in to Lost Property, retrace your steps if possible or report it to Student Services. If the item has your name on it we can return it to you much easier and faster.

I have forgotten my PE kit, D & T ingredients, dinner money, any school equipment or my homework?

Tell your subject teacher and they will understand that everyone forgets things at some time. Most importantly – do not worry about it.  

I don’t understand my homework?

Ask your subject teacher, form tutor or Head of Year for assistance.

I missed a lesson due to an absence or an appointment?

Tell the subject teacher and they will arrange for you to receive the work that you have missed.

My child is late arriving to school

Ask your child to sign in with the Attendance Officer with a note from you with the reason.

My child has a dental or medical appointment during school hours

Provide your child with a note to explain why they need to leave the lesson early.The student will then take the note and sign out at the Attendance office.

My child is absent from school?

Provide a letter to explain your child’s absence for them to give to their Form Tutor or Attendance Officer.

My child has not got their uniform on a specific occasion?

Provide a note detailing the reason for not having the uniform – we understand that there may be an occasion when your child may not have the correct uniform. 

My child needs revision support?

See the information on the Curriculum booklet and if you need further advice contact the faculty leader of the department.

I want to know what homework my child has been set?

Access class charts where all the homework for your child are listed – if you do not have access contact student services for log in details by email: cej@penglais.org.uk.

I want to know what extracurricular activities you offer?

Look at the timetable under the Students heading for a list of clubs run at lunch time and afterschool. 

How do I inform the school of my new contact details?

You need to do it in writing or by email to admin@penglais.org.uk or (student services/head of year).

How can I put money on my child’s dinner card?

As a school we are now going cashless therefore parents will need to set up an account on Parentpay.  This will enable you to put money on the dinner cards by using credit/debit cards or by paypoint.  If you require any further information contact admin@penglais.org.uk.

How long does it take for my child’s dinner card to be updated when I put funds onto it?

There is no waiting time the monies will be credited and the funds available the same day.

Can I get a printout of what my child has been eating?

Yes, you can contact the finance office on 01970 621130 or email sj@penglais.org.uk they will make the arrangements for you to have a printout either posted or emailed.

How do I find out about when my child's exams will be held?

Check with subject teachers/Heads of Faculty to make sure you know which paper your child is sitting. Then follow the link on the school website for Exams then WJEC exam timetable. Individual timetables will be published early in the spring term and given to all students.
